When the cold and flu season begins, it is a bad time for many people. When sickness hits, it appears to be only a matter of time, and you will have the same plague that your family and friends have been hit with. There are too many versions of the cold floating around for it to be cured, and that is the plain truth. There are things you can do to help yourself feel better when you are sick, of course, but the best way to deal with the common cold is not to get sick in the first place. Drink lots of water. If you want to be healthy, before or after getting a cold, lots of liquids are a must, mainly water.

Being sick makes you feel bad, but doing some of these things will make you feel better, in no time at all. Doing things to keep yourself from getting sick will keep you from bad feelings. Your body gets compromised by germs, making you sick, but there are many preventative measures to keep it from taking place. There is a time of year when colds and flu happen the most, and during those times you need to be aware of things you can do to prevent them from happening, especially since there is no cure for either of them. After you finish using it, throw away your Kleenex or tissue immediately. One of the best ways to stop the spread of a cold, is to get rid of the Kleenex as soon as it is used. Someone uses a tissue, puts it down on a table or countertop, someone else throws away the tissue and someone else touches a book that was on the same table. The germs from one person has now spread to two different people. Throw away your tissues right after you use them, into a trash can with a liner. It is really important to get rid of your issues quickly, and walking them out to the garbage is even better. Spreading germs to others is still a possibility, even when you don’t look like you are sick.

Wash your hands a lot. When you open a door to a business, like a bank or a restaurant, do you think about the people who touched that doorknob? If you are taken down by colds and infections, it could be because your body wasn’t strong enough, and not being active physically could have contributed to that. Make sure you get at least fifteen minutes of exercise every single day.

Don’t smoke. This is most important during cold and flu season, but basically true all of the time. Smoking irritates your breathing passageways. The irritated passageways will collect the germs, making the flu or a cold much easier to catch. This makes you more vulnerable to getting sick. Even secondhand smoke will cause irritations to make you get sick, so it is advisable to stay away from people who are smoking.
